The Kentucky Wildcats beat the Kansas Jayhawks in the NCAA National Championship last night. Note that I didn’t specify Men’s National Championship because that was simply assumed by everyone reading this. No one cares who the female national champions are. The appeal of college basketball has always escaped me, which I realize is due to the fact I grew up in Washington, D.C., which has always been an NFL city. I suppose my rooting for a team that hasn’t mattered for 20 years and is run by a man so powerful and sinister you’d think he was the final boss from a Japanese RPG is equally baffling. It’s just that I’d go apeshit if my team lost its top players annually to the draft and the only constants were the colors, the coach and the hot college ass in the stands…annnnd now I understand the appeal of college sports.
