Another Sunday, Another Disappointing The Walking Dead (“18 Miles Out”)

For as long as AMC continues to subject viewers to the schlock that is The Walking Dead‘s second season, I’ll continue to subject readers to my equally dreadful episode recaps. And the news from the latest TWD, “18 Miles Out” is that the show is not only as unfocused and gabby as ever, but it’s also added abundant musical accompaniment like a zombified Grey’s Anatomy. You know, because viewers wouldn’t be able to feel any pathos for a human being trying to survive a nightmarish, post-apocalyptic void unless Snow Patrol helped them out with that. Whatever, I’m over it. AMC is okay in my book. Unless they start depicting Don Draper using condoms. Then we’ve got a problem.

Seriously? How aren’t you liking this? Most people complained that the show had lost action, but these last few episodes have been full of action. I’ve always liked the show because it’s basic function is to make the viewer ask “What would *I* do in that situation?” and focus on how life changes after a massive world problem. This season has done that in strides (Lori’s pregnancy, the farm daughter’s suicide, Glen and Maggie, etc.). They’ve made some interesting characters and filled the cracks with gore and action. I’m very happy.

What do you want from the show? Seriously, what would you do with it to make it less “dreadful”?
