Does the Verizon iPhone 4’s Data Speed Suck for Everyone or Just Me?

admin April 5, 2011

Much like Roy Munson, my iPhone 4, once so full of promise, has hit a slump. Will it redeem itself in the third act with the help of Randy Quaid? I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

A few months ago, I treated myself to an iPhone 4 on the Verizon network. It was a joyous day, not unlike the birth of a child, except my iPhone will never vomit on me and I’ll have upgraded to a better phone long before it gets old enough to call me a horrible parent who ruined its life. For a few weeks, all was well. And then, as with everything in my existence, something started to go horribly wrong. In this case, the iPhone 4’s Internet slowed to a crawl.

What the Hell? The entire point of me purchasing a Verizon iPhone 4 was the fun of shoving it in the face of my friends who had one with AT&T while I bragged that my phone could actually make calls in addition to download things. Instead, every time I try to do something on the 3G network lately, I’m treated to a popup that states I “have no/slow Internet connection” or something along those lines. Thanks, phone. I hadn’t deduced that from my Twitter page taking longer to load than a topless photo of Cindy Crawford circa 1993. Maybe you can hiss at me like a 28.8k modem and make my heart race like it did as I rushed to masturbate before my parents get home to complete the walk down memory lane.

So now I’m stuck with the iPhone that makes calls but downloads like a Special Olympian versus the iPhone whose Internet rocks but would be more useful for talking if a Dixie Cup on a string were sticking out of its back. It’s bullshit. I shouldn’t have to buy two of these things and glue them back to back into some Frankenphone just so they can do their job. Is anyone else having these issues with their Verizon iPhone 4, or is it just me? I’m a simpleton, so it’s probably the latter, but I wanted to make sure.

If it worked before, now doesn’t, either you have downloaded an app that doesn’t agree with your phone, there’s a network outage (judging by the lack of responses, no), or it’s a hardware problem.

First, try turning it all the way off and back on (you’d be surprised at how much this really does)
Then, test your speed at speedtest.net. Stilll having issues? Restore your phone through iTunes.

I also waited for verizon to get the iphone 4. So I bought one that was a good day. But when I got
home the 3g network works like piece of crap. Lip service all I get
from verzon I’m stuck with 2 year contract that does not work I’m not happy. Verzon is getting
away with fraud. There 3G data plan added $50.00 to my cost. IT DOES NOT WORK like
    advertise.

I recently got my iPhone from Verizon at the beginning of July and since having it, I have noticed that data speeds are really slow. A lot of public places I go to I have issues even getting the data to work. People around me are sending pics, uploading pics to Facebook etc, and I’m sitting there looking at my iPhone wishing I was back on at&t. I am really disappointed by this.
