Government Shutdown–Papa’s Basement Podcast

I keep waiting for Obama to give the Tea Party PM Hugh Grant's speech to President Billy Bob from Love Actually. That reference (which will only be understood by those with vulva, like myself) seemed somewhat clever when I typed it at 8 AM.

If you think the government shutdown is a good thing without real consequence, this is not the episode for you. My mom is a government employee. She’s not lazy, overpaid to do nothing or any of the other ignorant stereotypes levied at those who work for this country. She lives paycheck-to-paycheck and, without said paycheck, it falls upon me to help her do things like eat and not lose her house. By my metric, and those of most other reasonable human beings, that is a bad thing and a real consequence.

This isn’t the prettiest episode or the funniest episode. I’m mad. I rant. I forget myself mid-stream because, as it turns out, I was coming down with something and have spent the days recording since very sick. There’s also some ragging on the obnoxious, Liz Lemon-esque cunny who went viral with her job quitting video and discussing the owner of Barilla Pasta saying he didn’t want gheys in his ads, but it’s almost all ineloquent government shutdown rant. Enjoy?
