My Mom in Front of a Boeing 777 Engine

My favorite proofreader (and she who birthed me) stands in front of a massive jet engine and my first thought wasn’t something about the pilot accidentally firing up that puppy while she stood in front of it. I feel so…mature? Either way, the picture made me laugh (especially in it’s uncropped glory, located here).

She’s apparently now interested in going to ground school, which will allow her to fly a plane for $50 with the help of a co-pilot. As in she’d be the main party responsible for controlling a plane. Just typing those words makes me shudder. She’s one of those people that not only panics, but panics in such a contagious way that it makes others panic.

CO-PILOT: Ladies and gentlemen, we’re currently encountering some turbulence. We should be fine in a few minutes.

MARIA (heard in background during the co-pilot’s assurances): WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE! I’M GOING TO DIE! I’LL NEVER BE ABLE TO ANNOY MY SONS WITH MY INCESSANT ATTEMPTS TO TAKE THEM TO SEE “JERSEY BOYS” AGAIN! WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE!

Tempting as that part about no “Jersey Boys” sounds, I’d miss her.
