The Grammys Were Last Night

admin February 13, 2012

The Grammys are an irrelevant platform for old white people to tell other old white people what “hip” music they should be listening to. There was a time when that bugged me, but I’ve reached a curmudgeony place in my own life where I delight in my ignorance of anything new musically, so it doesn’t anymore. The big stories from the night were Adele winning everything and multiple Whitney Houston tributes. If I were a better writer, I could make that sound like it mattered more, but I’m not, so I can’t.

I love your shameless attempts at snagging some Google love with these mini-posts.

I always liked the Grammys until they gave a dead Ray Charles Album of the Year for an album that was complete crap, minus a few songs. Green Day’s American Idiot was shut out of Album of the Year because of that. They also randomly give Album of the Year to twats like Alison Krauss and Robert Plant just because Plant had never received a Grammy award. And what REALLY bugs me is when songs from 2 years ago are nominated for Record and Song of the Year like “The Cave” by Mumford and Sons this year.
