A Trailer For Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained

admin June 7, 2012

It’s the trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s new movie, the western Django Unchained. Given he directed it, I bet we learn during the course of the movie that every cowboy was obsessed with womens’ feet. Also, that President Rutherford B. Hayes looked a lot like Uma Thurman (so much so that she plays him in the movie) and that Hayes had a penchant for walking around barefoot and loved nothing more than putting his naked dogs up on his desk for all the world to see while deep in presidential thought. I guess what I’m trying to tiptoe around here is that Quentin Tarantino likes feet.

I’ll watch it when it reaches HBO. Sadly that’s the most enthusiasm I can muster for a movie these days.

I’ll definitely see this on Christmas Day. QT flicks always make a great moviegoing experience, even if they’re not what I was anticipating. My best guess is that the tone of the finished film will be different from the tone of the trailer in the same way promotion for “Inglourious Basterds” showed the more marketable snippets only.

Seeing DiCaprio as a dirty (yet charming) southern gentleman looks quite promising. The sight-gag of him holding a drink with a giant straw sticking out of it is right in line with Hans Landa pulling out a giant pipe in “Inglourious Basterds.” Great little details.

Plus, what an excellent cast this picture has. Even in the small parts like James Remar as the guy that gets gunned down in the trailer so dude can “acquire” Django. Or the white guy that gets whipped is Cooper Huckabee, who played white trash father to “Sam” on “True Blood.” He will be great in this.
